Add Sticky Tiles To Start Screen With Free Sticky Tiles App

Sticky Tiles is a free Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 app that allows you to add sticky notes as tiles to your Start Screen. The app allows you to create tiles of your own regarding reminders about stuff, etc. The app has a completely uncluttered interface that does not have any control bars etc., which help keep the complete aura of the app minimalist. Upon launching the app, you will be able to select the tile size, and the data that you wish to input in the tile. When that’s done. you can pin the tile to the Start Screen via the Pin button at the bottom of the app interface.

Sticky Tiles is available for free from the Windows App Store.

Working with Sticky Tiles for Windows 8…

Sticky Tiles makes for a great Windows 8 download. When you launch the app on your Windows 8 or your Windows 8.1 device, you will be presented with an interface which looks like the below screenshot.

main screen

In the above screen, you can see an extremely minimalistic interface that allows you to create tiles. Right at the top, you will be able to pick the size of the tile that you want to use and pin to your Start Screen. Once that is done, you will be able to choose the type of tile in the same window towards the bottom. The type of the tile basically allows you to set all the text at the same text size point, or allows you to change the text size of the top line thereby making it look like a heading of the tile. Once the type is selected, use the scrollbar to scroll to the bottom of the screen.

Here, you will be able to add the title and the text content to the tile. The thinner text field is the title field, and the thicker text field is the data field. You will be able to see a preview of the tile at the bottom of the screen. You can also pick the color of the tile from the various shades available under the Color tab. The available colors are yellow, blue, green, pink, purple and grey. Once you are happy and satisfied with the results, click on the Pin button next to the live preview of the tile at the bottom of the app screen, and voila! your tile will be pinned to the Start Screen.

You can see the pinned tile to the Start Screen in the above screenshot. Overall, this is a pretty decent app to have on your Windows 8 or your Windows 8.1 device that allows you to create random tiles just for fun, or maybe even for setting reminders. Another good thing about this app is that the tiles that it creates for pinning on the Start screen are actually live tiles, and you can turn them on or off to save battery. You can also click on a pinned tile to enter the editor screen of the app, thus allowing for a quick way to edit a previously created tile.

The Verdict

Overall, I really like the Sticky Tiles app for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. The app is a great way to set reminders without forgetting about important events, because the tile is the first thing that you will see when you boot up your system because the Start Screen is the first place where you are taken when you start your Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 device! (Also check how to bypass Start screen and login straight to desktop in Windows 8.1). I really like it, and the lack of any obtrusive control bars, and no ads make this app all the more better.
