Free Windows 8 Learning App For Kids: Kindergarten8 Lite

Kindergarten8 Lite is a free Learning app for young kids that works well on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 devices. Upon installing and launching the app, you will be surprised with the extremely minimalistic look of the app. The app has a lot of things that make it a great learning app for kids – including great background music to keep kids glued to the app, alphabet charts, puzzles, etc., number charts, puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, etc. The app is a bit heavy on size though – weighing in at about 40 Mb.

Features of  Kindergarten8 Lite for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1:

When you install and launch Kindergarten8 Lite on your device, you will see a tiled interface of minimalistic elements on your screen which allows you to select from various learning choices like Alphabets, Numbers, Animals, Puzzles, etc.

In the main screen, let’s assume that you click on the Alphabets category, which is the first tile in the above screenshot. Now, you will be presented with a list of alphabets accompanied by pictures in which the object shown has its name starting from the said letter in the alphabet. The below screenshot details this.

Also, when you click on an object, a kid’s voice speaks out the name of the object shown. This is another bonus. In the main screen, you can also choose to view the alphabet chart where you will be able to see all the letters of the alphabet in a chart form. Similarly, you can choose to view the numbers category.

Numbers are shown up to 10 in a horizontally scrolling format. The numbers are shown via the number of objects represented on the screen. You can also play certain number games from the main screen of the app, one of which involves bursting balloons with said number(s) in as less time as possible. Once a game is complete, you will be presented with the score.

Similarly from the main screen of the app, you can also choose to access animal charts, vegetable charts, play other games etc. For instance, vegetable chart looks like the below screenshot.

You can click on the vegetables shown in the above chart and their name will be pronounced. You can also play other games from the main screen of the app. These are a series of games which will keep your kid hooked for a long time!

The instructions appear at the bottom of the gameplay screen. Overall, Kindergarten8 Lite is a well designed app which makes for an absolutely fun learning app for young kids who are growing up! The game is ad supported, so that might be a minor annoyance to you!

The verdict:

Kindergarten8 Lite is a nice little app which allows kids to learn stuff in a fun and interesting way! The game is a bit heavy on size at 40.8 Mb, but once you download it, you will find that it’s worth the download. Kids will love it, and so will you! The app follows the Windows 8 design guidelines by being designed to have a tiled interface, which makes it look absolutely native.
