Windows 8 Video Converter App: Video Converter Lite

Video Converter Lite is a free app for Windows 8 and 8.1 which allows you to convert videos of various formats to mp4 and wmv format. The app has various presets which are built in to it, and when you launch the app, you will be able to select the video file which you wish to convert via the Select File button at the bottom of the screen. Once selected, you will also be able to preview the file which you have selected, and you can then choose the video preset to which you wish to convert the video file to from the right side of the screen. Then, you will be taken to the settings page of the format where you can fine tune the details like frame rate, etc. and finally click on the Convert button to start the conversion process of your video.

Video Converter Lite is available for free from the Windows App Store.

Main features of Video Converter Lite for Windows 8 and 8.1:

When you install and launch the Video Converter Lite app on your device, you will see the following screen.

Here, you can choose a video via the Select a File button at the bottom left of the screen, following which you will be brought to the File Explorer screen where you can choose to select the video file that you wish to convert. Once a file has been chosen for the conversion process, you will be brought back to the main screen of the app where you can preview the video file which you have selected to be converted.

You can see that I have chosen a video file in the screenshot above which I can preview using the compact sized player present in the app’s main screen. You can use the standard toggles at the bottom of the video player to control the playback and to switch to or from the full screen size.

Once your video is selected, you can choose the desired format which you wish to convert it to from the right side pane. You can choose from formats like Apple iPad, Xbox One, Apple TV, Microsoft Zune etc. Once you have clicked on a particular format to convert the video to, you will be taken to the settings screen where you can choose to fine tune the video conversion settings. You can see the video conversion settings screen in the screenshot below and you can also choose to adjust these settings. Once you are happy with your adjusted settings, click on the Convert button and you will be able to see the progress bar of the video conversion process light up according to the percentage of the video being converted.

Once converted, you will be able to see a confirmation message that the video was converted successfully.

You can now access this converted video in your Videos library.
